Tertini Wines… a multi-award winning vineyard with altitude
Tertini Wines are committed to attaining excellence in cool climate wines with a flair for alternative varietals. The first Tertini wine ever produced won gold at its debut showing. A raft of major accolades and awards followed and today, Tertini Wines now lay claim to more than 300 medals and trophies. Most recently the 2014 Riesling received a gold medal and 3 trophies including ‘Wine of Show’ at the South Coast Wine Show.
“The NSW Wine Industry Association has upheld Tertini Wines as exemplifying the outstanding quality and diversity of wines produced from grapes grown in NSW”
Also shining as Gourmet Traveller magazine’s Star. Cellar Door of The Southern Highlands in the 2015 Best Cellar Door Awards, the Tertini tasting room and winery are nestled amid the 8.5hectare premium producing Yaraandoo vineyard.
Although a relatively young vineyard, the vines are thriving at the high altitude and the labour of love at the heart of Tertini’s success extends to hand pruning, handApicking low cropping vines. It is unusual for a young vineyard to perform so well at wine shows. Tertini put this down to patient and meticulous tending of the vines over a long, slow ripening period, allowing distinctive fruit characters to develop. The artfully finished wines are elegant in style and designed to cellar well.
Widely acclaimed as the Highlands’ leading Riesling and Pinot producer, the Tertini stable also includes one of the world’s rarest varieties – a Piedmontese grape called ‘Arneis’, or ‘little rascal’ in Italian; so called because it is notoriously difficult to grow.
It’s a testimony to the skill of this dedicated local producer that the Tertini Arneis has won multiple gold medals and widespread industry praise. Visit the Tertini Wines Cellar Door to try the wines, complemented with tasting boards of locally produced cheeses.
